We build the channel, not the surveillance.
Hinweisbox is a German product for a German obligation — with a clear position on what a reporting system must never do.
A reporting channel is not used just because it exists.
“We do have a reporting channel.”
Since July 2023 almost every mid-sized company in Germany must run an internal reporting channel. Many set up an email address and ticked the box. Almost nothing is ever reported there.
“And if I use it, by tomorrow everyone knows it was me.”
The reason is not indifference. Someone who witnesses wrongdoing first expects to become the problem themselves. An address in the HR inbox does not remove that fear — it confirms it.
What followed
Hinweisbox grew out of that observation. We built the product so the fear becomes technically unfounded: the system does not know the whistleblower’s identity, and a conversation is still possible. Everything else — deadlines, roles, documentation — follows from that.
Four decisions we do not put up for discussion.
Anonymity is not negotiable
No feature that makes an identity reconstructable — not even at a customer’s request.
What is never stored cannot be handed over.
The law is the floor, not the goal
No reporting channel that merely ticks the box.
Statutory compliance is the starting point; it is only good once employees use it.
German infrastructure, no detours
No transfer to third countries, no tracking, no ad scripts in the form.
Reports sit encrypted in German data centres.
We sell nothing to whistleblowers
No advertising, no newsletter, no link to our pricing page in the reporting portal.
Someone who files a report is not a lead.
